Case Presentation

A 10-year-old kid visited our dental department with complaints of an unerupted front tooth and malalignment.

On Examination

Intra oral examination reveals Missing 11 (central incisor). Radiological examination (OPG) reveals a supernumerary tooth hindering the eruption of 11.

Management

CBCT was recommended to assess the position of the supernumerary tooth but additional findings were made that shows he had another 4 supernumerary teeth in his all first premolar region hindering the eruption of the same.

Discussed the need for removal of all the impacted supernumerary teeth with the parents and need for General anaesthesia for surgical removal of all in single shot.

Under ETGA, with all precautions extraction of retained milk teeth (8 no’s) and extraction (open method) of impacted supernumerary teeth (5 no’s) were done.

The procedure was uneventful post of pain and swelling were managed medically. The patient was discharged on 2nd day with oral drugs for 5 days.

Further management (malalignment correction will be done after complete healing).
