Hello Dear Readers!

Welcome to the magical month of December. Christmas is just around the corner. The month is rooted in goodness, joy, and charity.

Well, why do I say it’s a magical month?

Even though we may have made some plans that we were unable to execute, December gives us the hope to restart and execute our plans and to make an effort to make our resolutions come true in the upcoming new year.

Most of us make decisions and plans, but nowadays, we feel peer pressure to share these plans with the so-called social media. When unable to achieve it, the individual feels the pressure as though he/she is incapable or unproductive.

Unrealized resolutions from 2024 can be given a fresh start in 2025. It is good to think ahead of solutions to problems which hinder the start of resolutions.

Do remember that time management and discipline can preserve, protect and help us progress to good health.

In the present era of spiralling diabetes, unrecognized hypertension, unknown lipid status, and unawareness of risk factors for heart disease, kidney failure, cancer, etc. prevention of disease and complications through health checks becomes very relevant.

It is economical to be healthy, it is expensive to be sick.

So, a healthy lifestyle – regular physical exercise, making healthy food choices, getting 8 hours of sleep, good hydration, dental health and mental health become crucial.

Digital health is under threat now from digital addiction and digital toxicity.

Obsession with the smart phone has now become a major cause of road accidents – but no one wants to bell that cat. Addiction to the phone is something no one wants to recognize in themselves, it has become the “elephant in the room” we do not want to see.

Very soon, social media and AI will become a major part of our lives. To be smart enough to handle this technology and to take the correct information is the only way by which one can prevent becoming a prey to digital addiction.

There is information everywhere. Like how a tea or coffee recipe can be uploaded by anyone in various digital platforms, there is an overload of medical information too. Chances of misinformation reaching public is very high and thanks to the pandemic which added fuel to the fire.

Medical advice is free everywhere!

The sad part is that there are a group of  people who are vulnerable to this misinformation which can make them mentally unstable due to health anxiety.

My sincere advice as a family physician would be to take care of this upcoming social media challenge, especially for our future youngsters.

Kindly share information which has evidence.

EVIDENCE is not hearsay; it’s DATA which has been researched and collected, and which proves that the information is ethical and unbiased and can be shared.

This is my sincere hope from everyone.

Here’s wishing that 2025 will make a huge change in cutting digital addiction.

Merry Christmas!

I would love to know what you think about our monthly newsletter. Feel free to give your feedback via email [email protected].

Highlights @ Kauvery

Hello Kauverians! Welcome to Delightful December!

Hello Kauverians! Welcome to Nurturing November
By Uma & Vishnu

As we step into the final month of the year, December brings with it a time of joy, celebration, and reflection. This month is all about embracing the festive spirit, spreading kindness, and cherishing the bonds we’ve nurtured throughout the year. As we prepare for the holiday season, let’s take a moment to celebrate the wonderful work we’ve done together and the positive impact we’ve had on our patients and the community.

Looking back on November, we had some truly special moments. Children’s Day was a joyous occasion, where we celebrated the children who inspire us with their resilience and optimism. It was a day filled with smiles, laughter, and a renewed commitment to the health and well-being of our young patients. Our Smart Nurse Competition also stood out as a highlight, where our nurses demonstrated their expertise, dedication, and passion for patient care. We are incredibly proud of the exceptional care they provide every day.

In addition to these celebrations, we also honoured our dedicated caregivers during the Long Service Awards. It was a heart-warming moment as we recognized those who have completed 5 and 10 years of service at Kauvery. Their unwavering commitment, hard work, and compassion are the foundation of our success. These milestones are a testament to their dedication and the invaluable contributions they’ve made to our hospital and community. We are deeply grateful for their loyalty and service.

As Christmas approaches, let’s take this time not only to celebrate, but also to reflect, renew, and restart. Reflection allows us to appreciate all we’ve accomplished, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the bonds we’ve strengthened. It’s an opportunity to express gratitude for our growth and renew our commitment to excellence in care and compassion. As we look ahead, let’s restart with fresh energy, ready to embrace new opportunities and continue our journey of growth.

We also want to express our deepest appreciation to the caregivers at Kauvery, whose selfless dedication forms the foundation of everything we do. Your work goes beyond medical treatment; you heal, uplift, and inspire hope every day.

As we celebrate the season, let’s also focus on delighting our patients through excellence. Together, we will continue to provide compassionate, high-quality care that exceeds expectations and enriches lives. Let’s carry the values of reflection, renewal, and restarting into our daily actions, always striving to offer our best to those who trust us with their care.
Wishing all of you a Delightful December, filled with peace, joy, and gratitude!

A Journey of Hope : Resilience Woven With Love

Ms. Monica
Ms Monica,
Service Excellence

Dear Reader,
There are many days I question my decision to work in the health care field. Some days begin with the joyous cries of a new-born, while others bring heart-breaking news. It’s not an easy job, but something deep inside keeps me going. Today, I want to share a story that reminded me why I chose this path.

One day during my rounds, I met a sweet six-year-old boy who was always smiling. His giggles, sparkling eyes, and curly hair could brighten anyone’s day. Nobody could guess that behind his cheerful demeanor, he was battling a serious illness. He came from Sudan and had been suffering from hematuria for six months. Despite their best efforts, the doctors in his home country couldn’t find the cause. His father brought him to India, where he was finally diagnosed with bladder cancer.

When I first approached him, he greeted me with warmth and kindness. As I spent time with him, I couldn’t help but feel an emotional connection. Being a mother to a five-year-old myself, I deeply understood his pain and suffering. The distance from his mother, who had stayed back in Sudan to care for his siblings, only added to his loneliness. He would often tell his father, “I love Monica”, which touched my heart deeply.

Every time I passed his room, he would call out my name, “Monica!” His warmth and trust made me feel like I could give him the love and comfort he missed. I would sit with him, play games, sing songs, and teach him words in Tamil. Those moments became precious to both of us, and I silently wished for his recovery.

Over time, his treatment began to show progress. From a point where there seemed to be no hope, his determination and the care he received from the medical team brought light back into his life. Watching his health improve, seeing his father’s relief, and hearing his laughter again filled my heart with gratitude and pride.

As a mother, I could feel his pain, but I also witnessed his incredible strength. His journey reminded me how much resilience lies in these little souls and how important it is to have someone by their side during their hardest times. These moments remind me why I chose this profession. Being able to connect with people, to share in their struggles, and to celebrate their victories makes this journey worthwhile.

To all my fellow health care workers: “You don’t just heal bodies; you heal hearts. Your dedication and compassion change lives in ways you may never fully see.”

I am proud to be one of you.
