medical oncology

Chemotherapy is a form of systemic treatment where drugs acting against cancer cells are given, in an injectable or oral form, to destroy cancer cells in the primary tumour and also the cancer cells that have spread throughout the body (metastases).

We at Kauvery Cancer Centre have medical oncologists experienced in delivering chemotherapy at the appropriate doses with least adverse effects to treat both solid tumours as well as leukaemias and lymphomas. Supported by our experienced pathologists, and the recent advances in molecular oncology along with genetic mutation studies, we are moving towards patient tailored therapy where, based on driver mutations, targeted therapies like monoclonal antibodies and immunotherapies are often used appropriately to provide improved clinical outcome in many patients, thus avoiding side effects of chemotherapy whenever possible.
