Welcome to the June edition of Kauvery Health and Wellness Newsletter.

Nursing is a very noble profession and nurses are the anchors of healthcare service. International Nurses’ Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern day nursing, who became famous for her services during the Crimean war. I am very proud that I had the opportunity to work in the same St Thomas Hospital, London where Florence Nightingale also served during the 19th century. At Kauvery, we celebrated the Nurses’ Day on 12th of May and the theme for 2016 was “Nurses: A Force for Change: Improving health systems’ resilience”. The celebrations ended with the “Nightingale Pledge” taken by all our nurses.

For the first time in Asia, a state level workshop on “Acute Illness Management (AIM) Course” under the license from The Greater Manchester Critical Care Network was organized and conducted at Kauvery Hospital Chennai last month. The programme was organized by our well trained and qualified nurses’ team and it was a grand success with participants from 13 institutions, who were given hands on training on practical skills complete with lectures for early and appropriate recognition, assessment and management of acutely ill patients.

Kauvery Hospital has been at the forefront of Continuing Medical Education, which is mandatory for doctors to keep themselves updated about the advances in medical science. With that objective, we are conducting two courses for doctors in June, one on spine surgery, the K MISS (Kauvery Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery) and the second for trainee surgeons, MRCS Part-B OSCE Preparatory Course.

An Orthopaedic Health Camp was organized by Kauvery Hospital for Anna University Alumni Club members in May 2016. Vital check-ups and Bone Mineral Density Tests (BMD) were done for the club members. The services of Kauvery Hospital were very much appreciated by the club members. On the occasion of the 4th Anniversary of Kauvery hospital, special discounts are offered on the health packages & investigations throughout this month.

Post elections, the new government has been installed and we look forward to a progressive health care policy which will ensure that our state of Tamil Nadu remains sthe most sought after healthcare destination.
