A large midline cyst in the maxilla presenting as spacing and discoloration front upper teeth - A case report

History:

Mr A 35 year old patient presented with a swelling in the upper lip as bulging since 1 year. As per the patient he had visited two dentists outside prior to our consultation for dental spacing of front teeth with discolouration. Patient does not remember any injury to the front teeth from childhood  or any RTA resulting in any injuries to the teeth.

The dentists after seeing the spacing and discolouration performed radiographs and found the 4 upper maxillary incisors were non-vital and attributed to possible earlier injuries. Root canal treatment was performed on all 4 upper incisors as a first measure. Patient also had very expansible lesion in the anterior maxilla breaching bone and periosteum.

PATIENT SELECTION FOR CONSCIOUS SEDATION

FLEXIBLE DENTURES FOR REHABILITATION OF PARTIAL MAXILLECTOMY PATIENTS AFFECTED WITH MUCORMYCOSIS– A CASE SERIES INTRODUCTION

The world is facing a devastating pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2. It causes secondary infections like fungal (Candida infections), rare mould infections (fusariosis) and COVID-19- associated mucormycosis are likely to be under-reported. The risk factors predisposing patients to mucormycosis are uncontrolled diabetes, neutropenia, haematological malignancies, organ transplantation, trauma and burn, and use of immunosuppressants such as corticosteroids. Furthermore, diabetes is also a particularly important comorbidity complicating COVID-19 management (1). 56.25% COVID-19 patients with Mucormycosis have maxillectomy (2).
