Diagnostic Images: Osteoid osteoma

Background

A young 17-year-old male with left hip pain, which gets aggravated during the night and is relieved with aspirin.

CT left hip shows a sclerotic lesion in the subcortical location of the neck of the left femur – it is diagnostic of osteoid osteoma.

The patient underwent microwave ablation under spinal anesthesia.

The procedure time was 40 min from induction to ablation completion.

1-month follow-up: the patient is completely relieved of pain. He has started to resume his normal activities.
