Dear authors and readers,

Vanakkam!

It has become fashionable now for medical journals not to accept case reports.

We at the KAUVERAIN call them case studies.

If we study one case well, one patient’s problem thoroughly, the education and experience shall last a lifetime.

Even our patient’s story this week is one such case study

How much time does it take for our DMOs and PG Residents to write a case report?

Writing an article and speaking at a CME calls for practice, practice, practice!

The fine art of effective communication is learned the hard way, there are no shortcuts.

I request Consultants to encourage their DMOs and Residents to write.

To my absolute delight, our nurses and clinical pharmacists are coming into full bloom. Kiruba from Chennai writes a brilliant report on an innovative “knowledge” program for interning nurses

Suryaprabha shines from Trichy warning us to treat Sustained Release medications with respect- to crush or not to crush- while administering by a feeding tube.

Back to case reports! They grow into case series, then retrospective and prospective studies, and eventually into major original studies. There is no way you can analyze your results without familiarity with medical statistics. Our statistician Dasaratharaman shall handhold you and walk you through this maze with his series on medical statistics in clinical research

Kaanthal is back weaving magic on her poetic canvas with a “Brushstroke

COVID is no reason not to write!

In fact, no other disease in the history of Medicine has unleashed a pandemic of publications, so much so that it is being called the “Covidization of medical research”

It is now or never, so kindly do not hesitate to be an author yourself, and encourage others to be authors.

We also have a section “Diagnostic images

I am sure you, your residents, and DMOs see hundreds of them every day on the wards and clinics

How much time does it take to use the smartphone to take a pic, post it to the journal with a brief, one-paragraph note?

Write, for the KAUVERIAN and the CHRONICLE!

Best regards!
