Dear colleagues

The KAUVERIAN’s sole mission is to project outstanding original work by Kauverians.

Our talented colleagues can facilitate that by taking the trouble to write about their original work.

This issue begins by felicitating Drs Vinod Gunasekaran, RM Subbaiah, S. Prabhaharan, K. Senthil Kumar, R. Manohar, S. Chelliah and D. Sengutuvan for their seminal paper

“Mismatched Haploidentical Bone Marrow Transplantation in a boy with relapsed refractory ALL”.

This great story leads this issue.

Yet another sterling effort follows the above paper.

Dr. Vignesharprashanth Umapathy, PG Resident, Internal Medicine, from Tennur Trichy, deftly guided by Drs Joseph T and Dominique R, writes a case report which is a model worthy of emulation by other post graduate residents.

This author, who penned for us last month a heart-wrenching report on ‘Hemophagocytic Lympho- histiocytosis’ now unravels the Brugada Syndrome in a masterly manner.

Eisenmenger Syndrome is a Shakesperean tragedy of epic proportions that renders a life blue- an irreversible cyanotic heart disease.

Most people see it once in a life time.

Dr. Ramya Rajesh, MEM Resident, Specialty, Trichy, saw it twice in the same month, at Heart City and Specialty.

We publish both case reports.

Our only two PG Residents on the DNB Course in Family Medicine, Drs Neha and Ann Maria write proudly about the genesis and growth of their speciality

The valiant nurses of Heart City feature next with two Cardiac Electro- physiological interventions.

Ambiga presents a patient with Complete Heart Block. Umarani and Indhumathi present Sick Sinus Syndrome. Both received pacemakers.

Quality is back with a bang. Mr. Dhanasekar, Assistant General Manager, Head Business Excellence, Kauvery Hospitals gives us a graphic account of the First Ever National Award in Safety that came to Kauvery Hospital Chennai and for Workforce Category in Kauvery Hospital, Heart City-IMC RBNQA Milestone Merits Recognition 2022

Dr RM Subbaiah graciously gives us a diagnostic image of Osteoblastic clusters in a bone marrow aspirate smear.

Dr. Vasanthi Vidayasagaran’s next chapter on ‘Hands on Anaesthesiology” is on Perioperative Hypothermia in an Elderly Patient.

Dr. Yeshwanth K. Amdekar, in his next chapter, muses on “Super-specialist – boon or bane!”

International medical journals are exploding with new information. The KAUVERIAN has selected 42 papers from the month ‘s crop.

They span the advances in most specialties in Medicine, all of which are great reading. But David A Warrell et al Clinical aspects of snakebite envenoming and its treatment in low-resource setting’s in the Lancet, Mary Shaniqua’s ‘What Your Patient is Thinking’ in the BMJ, “Colin McCord. A rare brand of a Heart Surgeon” in the Lancet, merit special mention.

Recommended reading recommends outstanding writing: Cora Guerin’s “One Heart Defect, Many Lives” and Richard Sima’s ” Why birds and their songs are good for our mental health” are gems of thought.

Balasubramaniam from Salem Kauvery is now out prolific and indefatigable poet, mentored by our Poetry Editor, Dr. Subburethina Bharaathy. Bala gives us

‘நேரம் ஒதுக்கு’ and “மருத்துவரின் மகத்துவம்

Dear colleagues, do publish in the KAUVERIAN., We know how to showcase your work.
