Welcome to the October 2017 edition of Kauvery Health and Wellness Newsletter

It is festive season in Chennai with Diwali around the corner. Diwali, the festival of lights symbolizes the victory of good over evil, so during Diwali, we pray to the almighty to eliminate darkness in our lives.

Yet, one of the undesirable things that we do during Diwali is to consume plenty of sweets and fattening snacks. Although it’s difficult to resist the temptation of the wonderful aromas and myriad flavours, if we enforce control on ourselves, our bodies will thank us for a long time!

So this Diwali, avoid the usual virtual visits through Facebook or Whatsapp to your friends and relatives. Instead, go over and meet them personally which will make you feel good physically and mentally. Instead of the hundred greetings on Whatsapp, make the effort to call your old friends or relatives, or maybe invite them over for lunch or dinner.

Don’t complain about having to pay GST while buying sweets or snacks. Instead, ask your grandmother or aunt for a nice recipe of a sweet or murukku so that you could try it at home with your children.

Festival time is not just fun time to be spent with family, it’s also the time of caring and sharing. Do visit your neighbour, friend or relative and share the sweets you have made or enjoy a cup of coffee at their home. Show concern for them or do something for them. They will thank you, and you will also feel happy.
