Background

Nurses are the backbone of healthcare, the unsung heroes who provide compassionate care and support to patients in various settings. Their role is crucial in promoting health, preventing illness, and aiding in the recovery of patients. From administering medications to educating patients about their conditions, nurses handle a wide range of responsibilities with skill and dedication. Their work often involves long hours, complex situations, and the need to stay calm under pressure. Yet, they continue to serve with empathy and professionalism, making a profound difference in the lives of those they care for. Yes, Nurses are very special in healthcare system and planned to celebrate Nurses day as a Festival of Kauvery Hospital, Hosur.

Every year on May 12th, we commemorate Nurses Day with a special focus on Florence Nightingale. We had special plans to commemorate the day with the nurses in our ward. We made the excellent decision to plan the programme, including the cultural events, the nurse’s Milestones presentation, the Nightingale vow, etc.

Nurses Day fell on a Sunday in 2024 and hosted more celebrations. To make the event more successful, we got together on Sunday. We set up the conference room to make it more aesthetically pleasing and colorful. For Nurses Day, the whole nursing and support staff came together to adorn the space. Setting up the lamp lighting with vibrant flowers and theme-based balloons adhered to the wall.

 Nurses Day 2024 – Theme

The heads of departments greet all nurses with a rose and a candle. The nurses walked into the hall like angels, full of pride.

The story of “The Life of Florence Nightingale,” which our nursing head told on the platform, motivates us to pursue more in our careers as professionals. We met the target of having nurses at our hospital by 2023–2024. The presentation served as a reminder and source of motivation for attaining professional development and a thirst for knowledge about our field.

The Lady with the Lamp – Pledge

We were moved by the Nightingale wow on that site, and “The Lady with the Lamp” recreated it with candlelight and a two-minute prayer for the soul of the nightingale. The forum was filled with candlelight and silent prayer with nurses, and it looked like the most beautiful place imaginable. At the time, we were hoping to perform our roles more confidently and devote ourselves to the nursing profession. This commitment recreates our most memorable college days.

Nurses Pledge

“Before God and those assembled here, I solemnly pledge; To adhere to the code of ethics of the nursing profession; To co-operate faithfully with the other members of the nursing team and to carry out faithfully and to the best of my ability the instructions of the physician or the nurse who may be assigned to supervise my work; I will not do anything evil or malicious and I will not knowingly give any harmful drug or assist in malpractice. I will not reveal any confidential information that may come to my knowledge in the course of my work. And I pledge myself to do all in my power to raise the standards and prestige of the practical nursing; May my life be devoted to service and to the high ideals of the nursing profession.”

A programme without a cultural event is merely a meeting; we gathered on dice till the moment of cake cutting; it was more than just cake cutting; we shared the sweetness with everyone and made the decision to provide quality nursing care to life-saving patients.

The Cultural Celebration began with our nurses singing songs and dancing moments to complete the day. Our special guest from senior management said a few words about our Nurses; it was truly our success in growing our platform.

Nurses Day is more than a celebration; it is a reminder of the vital contribution that nurses make to society. On this platform, I want to convey my gratitude for their persistent efforts and dedication to the nurses.

In addition, I mentioned the wonderful lunch buffet during the Nurses Day celebration. Our management arranged lunch for all employees in our unit. That supper surpasses Nurses Day in terms of specialness, and we conclude our programme with the nicest lunch party with our colleagues.

Nurses are more than just care givers, they are advocates, Educators, and sometimes, even our cheerleaders too. They are ready to answer our questions related our health, calm our anxieties, and celebrate our victories. Whether its a routine checkup or a critical situation, nurses bring a human touch that makes all the difference.

Happy Nurses Day to all the Dedicated Nurses!!

Souvenir – French Word – Remembrance or Memory”
