Dear Readers,

We open with  a subject that we feel should concern  us health care professionals the most- ” Women and CAD” .

But it is not so. Universally, little progress has been made while the situation is getting to be grim.

Jasmine R Princely, Nursing Supervisor at Heart City,  reports on Emergency CABG on a 35 yrs aged woman with critical Lt Main Coronary, and Double vessel disease, with Severe LV dysfunction.

Her only risk factor is stated to be Hypothyroidism the endocrine, cardiological  and metabolical consequences of which are poorly understood.

She had quickly worsened from CAD diagnosed an year earlier for which she had undergone primary angioplasty on the proximal LAD.

She recently underwent successful and safe CABG but remains vulnerable to her endocrine abnormality, it’s cardio- vascular complications and deleterious LV remodeling that shall make her vulnerable to developing  Heart Failure.

Guideline Directed Medical Treatment( GDMT) favorably modifies the negative effects of remodeling.

Arokia J Deepa, NS and her team, Clinical Nursing, maa kauvery Trichy, presents a vivid report of successful surgery on a newborn with  Meningomyelocoele.

Yuvaraj, physiotherapist from Salem, reports on  their management of a challenging clinical presentation-Multiple Cranial Nerve palsies in the setting of  a Necrotizing Pneumonia.

Sugenthiran, Ramkumar and Kamalanayagi present their work on the ” Role of Physiotherapy in ACL Rehabilitation”

Latha, ECHO Technician at Heart City, presents an elegant report on a successful Device Closure of an ASD in a 2 yr old child.

Lucy Grace and Jaya Menon, Nurse Educator and Nursing Superintendent respectively,  at Tennur, report on an extraordinary CNE they organized on Renal Tranplantation.

In fact, every paper presented at that CNE by nurses, consultants and transplant coordinator, are publishable.

Two Kauvery poets ring, actually sing, the curtain down on the issue.

Bala, our Salem resident poet, waxes eloquently on Kauvery’s ‘Walkaholic Initiative’.

Vasanth takes up the baton with his poem on the New Year!

Two good news!

We shall be publishing shortly the First Kauvery Anthology of Poems, by Balasubramani of Salem Kauvery.

The NIGHTINGALE is now on the verge of being accredited and indexed.
