Dear Colleagues,

Chances are very high that the first face one sees when born would be that of a nurse.

And the last one too.

12th May is the International Day of the Nurse and pays an appreciative, admiring and grateful tribute to every nurse in the world.

At Kauvery, Namma Nurse is Nalla Nurse!

The NIGHTINGALE, special edition, 12th May opens and closes with poems that sing in praise of nurses.

Poet Geetha from Heart City opens and poet Bala from Salem closes.

“I love Lucy” was the longest running, and greatly loved serial on American TV.

We love our Lucy, Nurse Educator from Tennur, who courageously writes about how her world crashed around her recently, after the RTA in which she sustained a headinjury.

She distinctly recalls hearing the Kauvery ambulance crew that reached her prompty saying ” We are here; we shall take care of her”. We did!

We publish a debut writer, Noor ul Shahin, a Clinical Pharmacist, who writes her first paper within weeks of joining Tennur, on ‘Anudulafungin in Oncology’.

“Food for Heart!”. Nalini Sivakumar, dietician from Chennai, writes on how they looked after the nutritional care of a young lady who underwent a heart transplant.

Hemakumar, physiotherapist from Chennai,” talks” about what mobility can do for a patient.

Suganya and Lucy (Yes, we love Lucy again!)  join Mahalakshmi, Nursing Superintendent at Tennur, in catching the bull by its horns.

Air Pollution is the bull that is charging at us with all its power and hurting us in many ways. They tell us how to keep our hospital environment safe for patients and us.

Covid gave the impetus towards preparing this paper.

The Kauvery mission to achieve ‘Quality in Care’ has now grown into a year-round exercise that has excited many Kauverians who are engaged in it round the clock. Their efforts are now gaining great recognition.

We publish two papers on our recent endeavors that have been awarded.

Dhanasekar, AGM and Head of Business Excellence, Kauvery Hospitals,  debuts on our journal and writes on our sterling performance at Quality Circle, One Point Lesson and Kaizen.

Dr. Augustine Sylvester Stallone and Kiruba (Editor of this journal!), from Chennai, report on the 7th International Conference of CAHO  and valuable insights gained from that, the most important being that ‘ Leadership is the key to Quality’.

GK Balasubramani from Salem, sings with “செவிலியர் எனும் தாய்”.

From the editors’ desk comes an international update on” Hepatology for Nurses”.

Do kindly listen to the Song of the Nightingale.

Best regards
