Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet performs successful Lung Transplant on Father of 5 year old
Chennai, 16th Nov 2023: Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet a leading healthcare institution in Chennai, proudly announces the successful completion of Bilateral Lung Transplantation in a 41 year-old recipient just six days after being placed on ECMO as a bridge-to-transplant for acute exacerbation of Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD). And showcasing the hospital’s commitment to pioneering advancements in healthcare. The transplant was performed under the leadership of Dr. Kumud Dhital Kumar, Program & Surgical Director of Heart & Lung Transplantation; Dr Srinivas Rajagopala, Director of Transplant Pulmonology; and Dr Pradeep Kumar, Director of anaesthesia & Critical Care, together with a large transplant-dedicated multi-disciplinary team at Kauvery Hospital.
This life-saving surgery was only made possible by the generous gift of organ donation by a donor and relatives from Madurai, and from the excellent donor care and management at the donor hospital. The lungs were swiftly airlifted to Chennai in time to permit a smooth surgical procedure.
