Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet and TCS Organised a Cancer Awareness Run 5000 employees and their families from TCS participated in the mega event
Chennai, 29th June 2024: In a significant step towards raising cancer awareness, five thousand employees of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, pledged to spread knowledge about cancer. Kauvery Hospital Chennai, a leading multispecialty healthcare chain in Tamil Nadu, organized a cancer awareness run, in association with TCS.
During the event, participants pledged to educate themselves about cancer and to spread awareness among the public. This initiative aims to improve outcomes for those living with cancer and support their recovery journey.
India is combating cancer through a multi-faceted approach, including public awareness campaigns, improved diagnostic and treatment facilities, and government initiatives like the National Cancer Control Programme. Efforts are also being made to increase access to affordable healthcare, promote early detection, and enhance research on cancer prevention and treatment.
Recent data reveals that India reports over 1.3 million new cancer cases annually, with breast, cervical, and oral cancers being the most prevalent. The country faces approximately 850,000 cancer-related deaths each year, underscoring the need for continued efforts in cancer control and care. However with early diagnosis, cancer is treatable.
“This is the second edition of Cancer Awareness Run by TCS and Kauvery Hospital. We had an overwhelming response last year, and this year we have seen the same interest from our employees. We have been promoting fitness and good health among all, and this initiative is one such forum which highlights the importance of fitness in overall wellbeing.
