Wishing you all a very Happy October, dear readers!
Let us welcome October with its promise of cooling the heat with the northeast monsoons towards the later part of the month.
This month is dear to my heart as it begins with an important awareness day – World Elders Day.
The theme for this year is “Ageing with Dignity”.
Another equally important awareness day shall be celebrated on 10th October – World Mental Health Day.
Ageing with dignity is an absolute necessity for everyone to keep us physically and mentally healthy and vice versa.
“Long live” is the blessing we always receive from our elders.
So, we need to make sure that the longevity for our elder should be enriched with a good quality of life and peace of mind.
The lessons learned through experience, knowledge and wisdom can only be gifted by elders to everyone.
They are the ones who can teach time management and discipline, having been the pillars of the edifice of our society.
We wish all the elders and thank them for their immense contributions to families and society.
The month also heralds the festive season of the year, with Navarathri just around the corner.
And of course, the most awaited Festival of Lights… the Deepavali.
Deepavali and Navarathri are not just festivals but celebrations from ancient times to make us understand that we should light the lamp of positivity and share our goodness with others; a time to get away from immersion in self to a selfless attitude.
Well, every epic festival also shares a moral value to be followed, be it Deepavali, Christmas or Ramzan. They all teach to exchange love and affection.
Celebrations shall always bring back nostalgic memories from the core memories of ourselves and family.
Some might recall unhappy thoughts such as overprotective parents not allowing anyone near the fireworks.
It was solely meant for the sake of safety.
Certain acts of Elders are done to protect us from harm.
Every festival is a time to rejuvenate ourselves with lovely memories and to erase the thoughts which are meant to be erased.
Memory is the best gift of life and let’s treasure it for the best moments.
Happy October!

Highlights @ Kauvery
Hello Kauverians! This is Optimistic October!
Optimistic October has a great ring to it! As we step into this month of October, let us welcome the festive spirit that surrounds us and the opportunity to renew our focus on well-being, community, and compassion. October is a month of significant events that remind us of the importance of health, both physical and emotional, and the strength we draw from working together.
Before we dive into October’s celebrations, let us reflect on the vibrant energy of Super September. We honoured our dedicated housekeeping staff on World Housekeeping Day, recognized the invaluable contributions of our pharmacists on World Pharmacists Day, celebrated the strength of our hearts and community during World Heart Day, and embraced our traditions with Vinayaga Chaturthi. September united us in our commitment to health, teamwork, and spirituality, laying a solid foundation for the months ahead.
As October unfolds, we continue this journey with renewed vigour, embracing opportunities for growth, learning, and healing.
This October, we will celebrate Ayudha Puja as part of the Navaratri festival. This is a time to acknowledge the tools and resources that empower us in our daily lives. At Kauvery, our greatest assets are the skills, knowledge, and compassionate hearts of our team. Let’s take a moment to reflect on how we support our patients and each other, continually striving to improve our care and service.
On the 10th, we observe World Mental Health Day. This year’s theme, “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right,” resonates deeply within our healthcare community. At Kauvery, we are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment for mental health—for both our patients and our staff.
This month also marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month. With early detection being crucial for successful treatment, our oncology team will lead awareness drives and camps throughout. From the 14th, we’ll observe Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) with engaging events focused on hand hygiene, safe handling of medical equipment, proper sterilization techniques, and raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance. These activities will include workshops and seminars designed to educate healthcare professionals and the community, promoting a culture of safety and enhancing patient care. We also have some fun initiatives planned for World Spine Day.
Lastly, we embrace the joyful spirit as we prepare for Diwali, the festival of lights. Just as Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, we at Kauvery are committed to illuminating our patients’ paths to recovery with care and compassion. Together as a team, our collective energy and dedication can make every day brighter for those we serve, fostering joy and unity within our community. Happy October to you!
From Despair to Recovery: A Remarkable Story of Resilience
Dear readers,
When we live in cities, we often forget that not everyone has easy access to good healthcare, education, and other essential services. But have we ever stopped to think about our fellow citizens on the other side of the spectrum, struggling to make ends meet in rural areas? I want to share a heart-wrenching yet inspiring true story about a mother and son from a rural area who are fighting to get quality medical care, a luxury many of us take for granted.
I’ve seen them many times during their hospital visits, and their story has touched my heart. The 53-year-old mother was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a type of blood cancer. Her teenage son has been her rock, determined to give his mother the best treatment, giving up his own dreams to take care of her.
Their struggle began 18 months ago, with multiple hospital visits and countless kilometers traveled in search of quality care. Unfortunately, several hospitals failed to identify the causes of her illness, leaving them without hope. Refusing to give up, they continued their quest for treatment. The son put his education on hold, sold his motorcycle, and accompanied his mother to every hospital appointment. Finally, they traveled 151 kilometers, switching buses and cabs, to reach Kauvery Hospital where they found a ray of hope. The doctors and staff were kind and determined to help. Now she’s getting back to normal, after 8 rounds of treatment and chemotherapy, the mother’s health started improving.
What touched my heart most was their unwavering love and connection. Her son couldn’t bear to see his mother in pain. Whenever she made a sound in pain, he rushed to her side, comforting her with gentle words. Sometimes, he had broken down, overwhelmed by emotions, and she had lovingly supported him, reassuring him of her strength. Their bond was a beautiful reminder that there’s no greater love than the love our parents have for us. Witnessing their interactions always warmed my heart.
Their story reminds us of the challenges many face in accessing quality healthcare and the selfless love of caregivers. I hope it inspires us to appreciate the struggles others face and the importance of compassion and determination. As we reflect on this remarkable story, let’s remember that everyone deserves access to better healthcare, regardless of their location or background. Let’s strive to create a world where love and compassion like this mother and son’s continue to grow and flourish.
