Case Presentation

A 28-year obese (BMI 36, non-smoker, non-ethanolic) male, cab driver by occupation. Severe community-acquired pneumonia (viral to begin with then secondary bacterial) – treated outside for 5 days.

On admission 60% FIO2, severe ARDS with P/F ratio of 60–80, with severe hypoxic respiratory failure so, HFNC tried – failed and got intubated.

Four sessions of “Proning with Lung Protective Ventilation” (each session of around 16–20 hr), weaned and shifted to the ward after a week of ventilation.
