Prof. Dr. Gokulraj Dhanarajan is the Head of Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma at Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani. A second generation Orthopaedics surgeon, Dr. Gokulraj grew up seeing his father’s clinical work from 11 years of age. Dr. Gokulraj completed his MBBS at Raja Muthaih Medical College, Anna Malai University Chidambaram, Chennai n 1991. After MBBS he completed a one year internship in hand and plastic surgery in Stanley Medical College. He completed another year internship in orthopaedics at Royapettah Hospital, Chennai before pursuing MS Orthopaedics at Gulbargha university, Mahadevapa Rampurai Medical College in 1996. To Dr. Gokulraj, it is equally important for trained surgeons to continue to learn and grow in the field. He received training at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany in Arthroplasty and Poly Trauma Skeletal Injuries under Prof. Wolfgang Mutschler 2001. He was also trained in Joint Replacement under Prof. Shuler at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Karlsruhe Germany in 2010 and subsequently in Pelvis and Acetabular Surgery in Graz, Austria. Prof. Dr. Gokulraj has been invited to various National and International forums and conferences as a Faculty. He has authored multiple papers in leading National and International Publications. Dr. Gokulraj is amongst the handful of surgical specialists trained to execute kinematic joint replacement surgeries, a technique established in USA. He has performed over 400 knee and over 140 hip kinematic replacements since 2016. performed thousands of knee and hip replacement surgeries. Dr. Gokulraj believes that for patient’s getting the most appropriate treatment for their health concerns can sometimes be a daunting prospect and aims to help patients overcome the confusion and worry by providing clear, straightforward, options-based advice that would help patient’s make an informed decision about the next step in their recovery – be it surgical, physiotherapy focused or manageable with medication. He specializes in Kinematic Knee Replacement, Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement, Pelvic and Acetabular Fractures and Poly-Trauma Skeletal Injuries. He works with a team of orthopaedic surgeons, arthroscopy specialists, spine surgeons and nurses exclusively trained in orthopaedic care. Dr. Gokulraj is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for consultation.
