Just a leaf

As the music played by the tea kettle
A raven haired girl sat by the glass window
Watching the flying leaves settle
Gently on the dew of the fresh grass floor

Rattling and dancing as they sail through the air
In the audience of a child wringing her hands
Each leaf sparks with flair
As the wind lifts her black hair and glistening grey strands

From beside the pink curtains came a younger soul
Seeing the girl’s eyes in which curiosity lurked
Called out as birds sang from the pigeon hole
“Shush “to him she said, “Magic is at work”
