Heart Diseases

Cardiac disease in pregnancy refers to problems with the heart that occur while one is pregnant. Two main types of heart problems occur during pregnancy:

  • Pre Existing Heart Conditions Cardiovascular diseases that you had before becoming pregnant might have caused no symptoms or major concerns before. But during pregnancy, they can affect you and lead to complications.
  • There are heart conditions that develop during Pregnancy

Most people with a heart condition can safely become pregnant and have a healthy baby. But cardiovascular disease during pregnancy sometimes leads to serious complications. Our ob-gyn team collaborates with expert cardiologists to avoid any heart problems in pregnant women.

Epilepsy in Pregnancy

Pregnant women who have epilepsy need to see an ob-gyn specialist more often. You most likely will be given medicine to prevent seizures. Monitoring of these medicines is important to control seizures and reduce side effects.

Anaemia – During pregnancy, the volume of blood in your body increases, and so does the amount of iron you need. Our dedicated nurses will make sure that women take enough iron supplements.

VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean)- Many women would like to have the experience of vaginal birth, and when successful, VBAC allows this to happen. For women planning to have more children, VBAC may help them avoid certain health problems linked to multiple caesarean deliveries. These issues may include bowel or bladder injury, uterine removal, and placenta issues in later pregnancies. Our senior consultant is available 24*7 who specialises in VBAC.

A family-centred birth experience

While a serious illness or medical condition adds to the complexity of any pregnancy, we understand that the birth of your child remains one of the most important times in your life. Our goal is to keep you and your baby together whenever possible, although in some cases newborns require special care in our NICU nursery. Fertility Treatment

The fertility of women solely depends on their ovaries. The ovaries must produce healthy eggs for becoming pregnant. Following this, the reproductive tract must permit an egg to enter the fallopian tubes where it will combine with sperm to become fertilised. The uterus must receive the fertilised egg, which must then implant in the lining. As an important part of fertility treatment, infertility tests are performed to determine whether any of these processes are impaired.

Evaluation of Infertility

We conduct a general physical exam, including a regular gynaecological exam. Specific fertility tests may include:

Ovulation Testing

Imaging tests – Pelvic ultrasound is usually done for checking uterine or ovarian disease.

Depending on your situation, rarely your testing may include:

Hysteroscopy – Depending on symptoms, we may request a hysteroscopy to look for uterine disease. During the procedure, your doctor inserts a thin, lighted device through your cervix into your uterus to view any potential abnormalities.

Laparoscopy – This minimally invasive surgery is used to examine your fallopian tubes, ovaries and uterus. A laparoscopy can detect endometriosis, scarring, obstructions in the fallopian tubes, anomalies in the ovaries, and issues with the uterus.

Assessment of Couples – Various tests are available for couples to diagnose infertility

Counselling – Based on diagnosis, we provide fertility options for couples.

Ovulation Induction – Ovulation induction is the administration of fertility medications for stimulating the release of one or more eggs from the ovary.

IUI – Intrauterine insemination (IUI) involves artificial insemination for treating infertility in women. IUI is minimally invasive, and patients do not even require pain medication or anaesthesia during treatment. Patients may experience a slight pinching experience (similar to that experienced during a routine pap smear) and a little cramping as the catheter is passed through the cervix.
