Dear colleagues,

dr venkita suresh

The KAUVERIAN, Jul 01, 22 greets you as we enter the second half of the year

The editor has reviewed the book edited, and a chapter contributed, on “Rheumatic Rarities” by Dr. Sham Santhanam, Consultant Rheumatologist at Chennai. This is an exceptionally well written book, opening with a chapter by him and his colleague.

Dr. Anatharaman, Consultant Cardiologist, Chennai and his former colleagues, pay a tribute to a courageous, young, lady patient through

“Successful re-heart transplantation in Cardiac Allograft Vasculopathy”.

From ECB comes the notable report from Dr. Sheelu Srinivas on two Cochlear Implantations-for a child and adult.

The editor has summarized the highlights from the NEJM tribute to Dr. Judith Bowen, who wrote in 2006 a brilliant paper on Clinical Diagnostic Reasoning, by updating that article with annotations.

Seven Kauvery Hospitals treated almost 18000 patients with moderate, severe and critical Covid over 2020 and 22 but, sadly, hardly any papers were presented/published with Kauvery data.

Drs. Saranya Manickavasagam, Senthilvelmurugan, Ivan Jones and Dominique Rodriguez apply a soothing balm on our hurt by publishing their report on Spontaneous Pneumomediastinum in the Covid Lung.

Dr. Suresh Chelliah from Trichy is a tireless chronicler of pedriatric challenges and brings us” An unusual cause of seizures”.

Dr. Subbaiah, another indefatigable author, from Trichi, gives us an ultrashort case report on a disease he is focussed on – Multiple Myeloma.

And also contributes a diagnostic image!

Mariammal and Suryaprabha, Trichy, reminds us that even a single oral dose of the very frequently prescribed Amoxicillin can provoke an anaphylactic shock.

Dhasaratharaman keeps you up to date on statistics with his brief but succinct article on Sampling Methods.

Dr. Vasanthi Vidyasagaran, highlights the anaesthetic challenges encountered in the epidemic that creeps upon us every minute- increasing bodyweight from decreasing physical activity and rising consumption of the calorie-rich.

Prof CSK. Reddy continues to brief us on office-based clinical practice and other obligations to the profession.

Both Journal Scan and Recommended Reading scan with their radar major publications on your busy behalf, harvest gems of thought and bring them to your attention.

Do read, and write for the KAUVERIAN.

Best regards
