Hello Readers,

How are you all?

It’s here! Jingle bells and Santa… yes, we are in December 2023! Unbelievable, right? How can time fly so fast!

Bidding farewell to 2023, and thanking everyone who has been with us through happy and hard times, we are all excited to welcome 2024!

The eagerness and excitement of a new year is something each one experiences because it’s also a time when we want to make some decisions that will help us prosper. That’s exactly why we wish everyone a very prosperous new year.

So, as a family physician, you can be quite sure that my focus would be on health resolutions in a healthy way.

Sleep, food and exercise are mainly for physical health whereas digital detox is for mental health.

Mental health issues have almost reached the top rank compared to other health issues and our youngsters are the most affected.

The most important reason being the nuclear family system and living away from dear ones due to occupational and educational compulsions brings a sense of loneliness.

Parenting and schooling play a major role.

Over-protective habits of parenting and sometimes a total carefree nature, both can cause pressure on the individual.

Peer pressure and a sense of unproductiveness are two main reasons that disturb mental health.

Sharing day-to-day updates of one’s personal life is the trend now but in the long run, this causes emotional instability and over-expectations in one’s life.

The above factors will become the new model of life and this evolution cannot revert.

But this definitely needs to be looked into for the healthy life of our future generations.

New year is meant to make us take on new responsibilities to ensure that our kith and kin are healthy, mentally and physically.

Encourage your children, family and friends to take up simple resolutions; motivate and appreciate them to continue and sustain their goals in their New Year resolutions.

Simple changes in food patterns, exercise routine, sleep hygiene and digital detox with human interaction will make lives better.

We have a month more for 2024.

Let’s take up challenges and make resolutions and achieve them.

We are always here to help you. No change can be achieved without a team spirit.

Let’s form the team and achieve our goals of a healthy mind and body in the coming years.

A routine health screening to know your health condition and to plan lifestyle changes could be a part of your resolutions. Kindly call us on 40006000 for any assistance.

Have a great month ahead.

I would love to know what you think about our monthly newsletter. Feel free to give your feedback via WhatsApp +91 98406 47533 or by email communication@kauveryhospital.com.

The camp saw enthusiastic participation of employees from Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet and it was an act expressing – selfless service with a smile.

We also celebrated the Infection Prevention and Control Week between 6th and 10th Nov 2023. As a part of which, we organized an Infection Prevention and Control Carnival which had five stalls encouraging employees to participate in various competitions through which we were able to inculcate the importance of infection prevention and control in healthcare. We also conducted various competitions like puzzles, dance, skit, donning and doffing revolving around the theme “Infection Control”.

With this, let’s welcome December – the time of year when storefronts are festooned with holiday decorations. Shall we get ready to celebrate Christmas, which is one of the favorite festival celebrated all over the world? CELEBRATING A YEAR OF SAVING LIVES – KAUVERY REGIONAL BLOOD CENTRE, ALWARPET

Jr. Consultant – Transfusion Medicine

Blood is always in demand. Demand for blood increases every year. The only way to meet the demand is to conduct an awareness program regarding blood donation. Each eligible donor has to come forward to donate blood. Blood donation is a small act of kindness that does great and big wonders – come forward and donate blood for human welfare.

Keeping this in mind, Kauvery regional blood centre was inaugurated on 28th October 2022 to fulfill the blood requirement. The aim of our blood centre is to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion. Blood transfusion saves hundreds of patients’ lives every day. Nevertheless, we need adequate blood supply to continue helping those people who are in need of blood transfusion. Encouraging and promoting voluntary blood donation is our goal.

Save three Lives in one donation:

Through a single blood donation, we can save three lives. After donation, we separate the donated blood unit into three components – Red blood cells, Platelets and Plasma by centrifugation process and we can issue these components to three different patients. One hour of your time in blood donation can give hope and save three lives.

In the last one year, our blood centre has collected around 8000 – 8500 blood components. Each unit has been tested and processed according to the government guidelines. We assure the quality of each blood unit. We are so proud today that our collected blood units have saved thousands of lives.

Now, one year down the line our hospital blood bank is centralized and helping the nearby hospitals with blood components. To celebrate our one year of blood banking service, we organized an in-house blood donation camp on October 28th 2023 and a lot of our hospital staff came forward and donated blood to save lives.

ECHOES OF RESILIENCE: INSPIRING PATH TO RECOVERY

Sofia
Sofia
Service Excellence Team

That was my usual day to work, as a 26-year-old navigating the routines of a demanding work life, my days began with waking up, planning meticulously with checklists, and gearing up to impress my boss in a meeting. Little did I realize that the resonance of my routine would be abruptly interrupted when I encountered the first patient on my rounds – a fellow 26-year-old girl, who shook the very foundation of my routine. In stark contrast to our worlds, I was preparing for a meeting, while she fought a battle against leukemia.

In the quiet corridors of the hospital, a 26-year-old warrior faced the formidable battle of leukemia with unwavering courage that inspired everyone around her. Throughout her journey, she wore a radiant smile, a testament to her indomitable spirit, despite enduring relentless pain. She was a beacon of kindness, treated everyone with respect and shared her passions for her favorite actor, movie and hobbies with us and we connected with each other. In the midst of her struggle, she dreamt of starting a blog, envisioning it as a platform to document her journey and inspire others.

The hospital wasn’t just a place of pain for her; It became a canvas for joy. We decided to transform the sterile hospital environment into a heaven of joy for her. We provided her with board games, which became a catalyst for quality time spent together, creating an atmosphere that aimed to make her hospital stay not just bearable but a better experience filled with laughter, camaraderie, and moments of respite from the challenges, she faced. Behind her unwavering courage was a pillar of strength in the family. Her mother, father, and brother stood as a united force, motivating her throughout the darkest days. Welcoming everyone with a smiles and open hearts, they created an atmosphere of positivity that made us grateful to be a part of her recovery journey.

The climax of her narrative unfolded when she successfully completed her chemotherapy, and her triumph moment arrived. Discharged from hospital after a year of continuous visits, her eyes sparkled with happy tears, and her spirit echoed with newfound courage. On the day of her discharge, a meticulously planned event awaited her. Family, nurses, the housekeeping team and the service excellence orchestrated a surprise celebration, complete with a cake cutting and personalized greetings. In this moment, surrounded by love and triumph, her heart overflowed with gratitude.

The closing doors of the medical ward marked not only the end of treatment but also the beginning of a resilient chapter in her life, inspiring all who witnessed her remarkable journey.

Spine Boot Camp

Kauvery Hospital organized a workshop and hands-on training for Spine surgeons. Spine Boot camp is a regimented military-style training, which has been translated to different areas of skills training. The methodology involves the transfer of information, experience and wisdom from mentors to those seeking the unknown. The boot camp will add value by filling in the “gaps” that may exist in the knowledge that is not always attained during meetings, conferences, CME programs and cadaver or live surgery courses. This wealth of information has been put together by a group of experts, along with people in the Industry to enhance skills with precision and therefore to achieve improved knowledge.
