Welcome Dear Readers,

This month let’s March towards a holistic approach to Woman’s health.

KWAY, March edition, brings warm greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Happy Women’s Day (8-03- 2023), to each and every woman out there.

Dear women, do you realize how special you are?

Precious as you are, your good health becomes even more precious to us.

To quote a greatly loved Hollywood movie, you are the CEO of your home and nothing shall function seamlessly without you. The absence of a person is felt only when those actions are not happening.

So let your actions impact on the wellness of yourself, your family and the community.

It’s time you lead those lifestyle changes which are absolutely necessary to safely and effectively negotiate modern times.

Your life style should set the momentum for the change we need to see in the people around you.

That needs planning.

We are running from morning to night but our run should be bold, imaginative and strident, a marathon that reaches its destination of good health and happiness.

So start with a simple plan, time plan, work plan, financial plan, and a health plan because all of them are interconnected with our physical and mental well-being.

A woman’s health is the foundation of a healthy family, society and a nation.

Every child falls back on her mother. Every husband leans on his wife for support.

Aged people want their daughters’ support.

A woman in midlife balances all the above along with her work life balance.

We want our woman to be healthy and look at their health holistically.

An anaemia can leave you easily fatigued all day. A urinary urge or incontinence can upset your routine.

Diabetes and hypertension hover over the life of more and more women.

This Woman’s day let us also resolve to integrate technology into the way we safe guard our health.

Digital technology enables a woman to make life and work easier, and manage health through online access to necessary and useful information.

While using information technology you also need to choose carefully the source and authenticity of the information.

Also this Woman’s day we focus on cyber protective technology for woman.

Make sure you are well informed before you decide to to use any kind of app or before installing any apps.

Don’t share your password to anyone either.

So the take home message is healthy woman is a person who makes well-informed decisions in life.

Let’s all help one another to achieve this.

Happy Women’s Day!

We’d love to know what you think about our monthly newsletter. Feel free to connect with us through info@kauveryhospital.com.

international-womens-day

Hello beautiful people,

Welcome to the marvelous month of March!

Any day of the year makes for a perfect opportunity to support and celebrate the women in our lives. However, March 8th marks a very important day: International Women’s Day! A day to look back on all that has changed and how powerful we can be when we stand together, rather than against. When we stand for ourselves, rather than letting the world decide our fate. We have the power to shape our own destinies, to pursue our passions and goals, and to challenge the status quo. Always remember that you are a smart, brilliant, able-bodied, amazing woman. Own it, girl!

In honor of International Women’s Day, we sat down with some of our women changemakers to reflect on a few key questions and this is what they had to say.

What would you tell young women who are just starting to work? What would you like them to know?

For those who are just starting out in your career, you may have a lot of questions like, “Will I succeed? Is this the right field for me? etc etc…you’re probably scared but don’t worry. I’ve been there, we all have. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re not really expected to know how your entire life is going to pan out. You don’t have to feel guilty if you don’t have a step-by-step plan for achieving your goals. Comparing yourself to someone who has years of experience is pointless. Do not let others look down on you because of your gender, age, height, or any other quality. Press forward and prove your ability through your work ethic. Set high standards and do not compromise. Stop freaking out about the future. Relax and take a deep breath. Please give yourself permission to be young. You are going to be just fine and you’re more prepared than you think

What’s the best work-related advice you’ve ever received?

A lot of people who meet me generally say “Don’t you have difficulties running an emergency department as a woman?”. I received the best advice from one of my colleagues. She said “If people are talking about you, it’s good. That means you are making a difference and you have got their attention. Don’t lose hope. Continue to do what you’re doing. Keep at it, hit hard, and hit strong.”

Who are some inspiring women you look up to?

Every woman’s first inspiration is their mother and I am no exception. Modern working mothers are an inspiration because they demonstrate strength, resilience, and determination in the face of challenges. Another source of inspiration for me are the housekeeping women in the hospital. They show up every day to ensure that healthcare facilities are clean and safe. Even in the face of financial constraints and other challenges, they demonstrate the value of hard work, responsibility, and commitment. Their dedication and hard work serve as an inspiration to us all to approach our own work with the same level of commitment and excellence.

So the take-home message is this: every woman, regardless of her role as a homemaker or professional is inspiring in their own way.

Why do we need more women in leadership?

The expectation that women should manage both work life and home life is a societal norm. It can be very challenging to come home from a difficult night shift and feel pressured to give equal importance to our role as a mother. Many women have developed the skill of compartmentalizing different aspects of their lives and focusing on each one individually. This skill can be useful in managing the multiple demands and responsibilities that women often face as leaders. Furthermore, we often have a natural inclination towards empathy and nurturing. Women bring a different perspective and experience to healthcare leadership roles, which can help to create a more diverse and inclusive healthcare system.

What mistakes have you made along the way and what did you learn from them?

I made the mistake of not taking grooming seriously in my early career. However, I quickly learned that grooming can have a significant impact on how we are perceived by others, as well as our own confidence and self-esteem. A professional appearance can help you establish credibility with others. Taking the time to look good demonstrates a level of professionalism and attention to detail. That being said, it’s important to remember that your appearance is just one aspect of your professional identity. Ultimately, your skills, knowledge, and work ethic are what will determine your success in the workplace.

What does it mean to be a strong woman?

Someone who can stay confident without being arrogant. A strong woman gets up every time she falls. She doesn’t let others influence her decisions. A strong woman is more independent and is not afraid to ask for help whenever she needs one

How should women support other women in organizations?

Providing opportunities for other women to grow and advance in their careers is an important aspect of women supporting each other. Being a good listener is also crucial for creating a safe environment for women to share their experiences and concerns. In addition, it’s important for women to lead with a collaborative and supportive approach rather than a bossy or authoritative one. Encouraging a positive and respectful workplace culture is crucial.

What do you think organizations can do to support and encourage more women to take on leadership roles?

Organizations should provide leadership development and mentorship programs specifically for women to help them build the skills and confidence they need to take on leadership roles. Organizations can also increase the visibility and representation of women in leadership roles by highlighting their accomplishments. This includes recognizing the unique skills and perspectives that women bring to the table and actively working to promote gender diversity at all levels.

Launch of “Heart and Lung Transplant Certificate Course” for nurses at Kauvery Group of Hospitals

The Healing Power of Love

While for most people this is the day for candlelit dinners, red dresses, flowers, and chocolates, it isn’t the same for our patients. Patients’ emotions in the hospital can be complex. They may feel anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed and Valentine’s is perhaps the last thing on their mind.

The Service Excellence team at Kauvery hospital understands that providing opportunities for distraction can improve patients’ moods and reduce the negative impact of hospitalization. Identifying small “wow moments” is an essential part of providing patient-centered care at Kauvery.

To lift patients’ spirits and send a message of love, we handed out roses today to unexpecting couples in the hospital. As the rest of the world look forward to an evening of surprise, we are here witnessing the enormous power of love. Sitting by the patients’ bedside listening to their life stories, stories of how they met and endured hardships together. It was a touching and heartwarming experience to witness elderly patients get on their knees to reaffirm their love and commitment to each other. It once again reminds us of the universality of human emotions and the power of love to bring joy and meaning to our lives. Wishing everyone a very happy Valentine’s day.
