Banana Stem Buttermilk Drink Recipe | Vazhaithandu Mor
Constipation is becoming a very frequent discomfort among elders and a habitual problem among youngsters. This month we share a simple but yet a very exotic drink which will definitely help your constipation flee away.
Every part of the banana is packed with nutrition and health benefits. Banana stem is said to be a diuretic and helps detoxify the body. It is used prevent and treat kidney stones.
Ingredients:
- Banana stem / Plantain stem / Vazhaithandu – 1/2 feet
- Curd – 1/4 cup
- Salt – to taste
- Finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
Method:
Chop the inner part of the stem coarsely and grind it in a mixer grinder with about 200 ml water.
Filter the juice with a thin cotton cloth or strainer.
Mix curd and blend well.
Add salt and water accordingly.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
Note: If using tender stem straining the juice can be skipped.
Banana stem is a rich source of fibre and helps in weight loss. Its high fibre content creates a feeling of satiation. It helps ease constipation. Banana stem is rich in potassium and vitamin B6 just like the fruit. Vitamin B6 helps in production of haemoglobin and insulin. It also helps prevent high blood pressure, and maintain fluid balance within the body.
