~ Kauvery Hospital is all set to fight Diabetes at their Hosur unit ~

21st November, 2018: Kauvery Hospital announces the launch of their two-day awareness campaign, ‘Dishoom Dishoom Diabetes’ which will be held on the 24th and 25th of November, 2018 at Sishya School in Hosur. This is an initiative to spread awareness on the various aspects of diabetes and to bridge the knowledge gap by educating people about the complications associated with the disease.

India is among the top three countries with an ever- growing diabetic population, according to a recent study published by Lancet Global Health. The number of people with diabetes in the country has increased from 26 million in 1990 to 65 million in 2016, with the prevalence increasing from 5.5% to 7.7% over this period. The highest prevalence was in Tamil Nadu (13.1%) followed by Kerala, Delhi, Punjab, Goa and Karnataka. The study also shed light that 47% of the tested population was unware till the time they were tested for the disease.

As it takes only a few years to develop complications from diabetes, when these young adults become middle aged, they have the risk of developing several other complications in the eye, kidney, nerve, heart, and other ailments. This two-day long campaign will cover a large amount of important information to help people understand diabetes better. Over the years, we have seen a huge surge in the number of patients with diabetes and associated conditions who come to our hospital for treatment. As doctors, it is our responsibility to continuously educate and raise awareness on the treatment and management of this condition.”

‘Dishoom Dishoom Diabetes’ is aimed at reaching out to all and create better awareness about health conditions associated with diabetes, and also discuss best treatment for diabetes management. The focus of the campaign is diabetes prevention, controlling the disease and getting required access to healthcare services. The campaign also draws attention to the fact that other fields of medicine like Ophthalmology, Neurology, Nephrology and Cardiology are associated with Diabetology. It is going to be a two-day interactive event where people can engage with expert specialists from Kauvery Hospital and get all their doubts clarified. There will be educative talk sessions by the specialists, and gift coupons will be given away for free screenings and check-ups for the various activities planned during the campaign.
