My Dear K-Way Readers,
Every March is extra special for it celebrates the International Women’s Day.
This edition is a rich tribute to women’s health by accomplished women physicians of Kauvery Hospital, Chennai.
To all the lovely women out there, Kauvery Hospitals wish you all a very happy International Women’s Day on March 8th.
As health care professionals, we are deeply concerned about women’s health. Huge disparities and concern still prevail internationally around healthcare for women. Invariably they receive health care late, that is often inadequate and rarely complete.
Cardiovascular diseases are the most striking example. Cancer comes close behind.
Women’s health, just as their education and empowerment, is inextricably linked both to the health and development of children, family, the country and the world.
India, UK, Germany and New Zealand realized that women can be powerful leaders of nations. Africa alone realized that women make outstanding ministers of health who promptly lift maternal and child welfare from its pits to the sky.
Indeed every day is to be celebrated as Women’s Day.
The pandemic brought into stark relief the fact that the mental and physical well-being of women took a direct hit as they bore the full brunt of its impact on the family.
It is important that every woman focuses on her health right from an early age. That early investment pays rich returns in later years.
Mental health calls for greater attention than the physical. Once broken, it is difficult to fix it and the ache can last a lifetime.
Women’s good health translates into good health for men. Together their good health shines brightly on the health of their children.
At last, COVID seems to be giving us a break. Can we, together, try to be happier this year?!
Empowering women enables the country, community, organizations and families function more effectively.
On behalf of all the women at Kauvery hospitals, I take this opportunity to thank our Executive Director Dr Aravindan Selvaraj, who has constantly promoted women’s sense of self-worth. He has followed the words of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who had said that women’s empowerment leads to national stability.
Women empowerment is the vision and mission of our Executive Director and at Kauvery Chennai, we can proudly say that 80 percent of the senior managers are women, and more than 50 percent of the treating physicians are women.
Happy International Women’s Day!
Have a great month ahead.

Can you believe it is already March? February seems to have flown right on by. Summer is almost upon us. And while last month was all about love, we really feel like this month is about celebrating the women around us. At Kauvery we believe the future workforce is an equal one. That’s why we’re committed to a gender-balanced workforce. By empowering women in the workplace, we allow them to have more control over their careers. We do this by creating hiring opportunities for women from different segments, investing in training, mentoring, continuous upskilling, and promotion into senior-level positions. If you want to know what it’s really like to be a woman working at Kauvery, it’s best to ask the women. This is what some of our women Kauverians had to say:
“After my marriage, I took a long career break to raise my kids. When I finally decided to return to work, everything had changed and I was struggling to find employment. Then one day I saw an ad in the newspaper from Kauvery welcoming applications from housewives. They welcomed me with open arms. Today I am working as a front office billing executive. I am forever grateful to Kauvery for giving me an opportunity to kick start my career”
~ Harini
“There are many reasons for continuing on with Kauvery and one reason I’m staying is that I see many mothers here with kids who are doing a great job of balancing work and family. I haven’t had a child of my own yet, but when the time comes, I know I’ll be able to juggle both”.
~ Stella
“When you are a single mother, you have to be both the father and the mother. It can be a very draining journey. On top of that, we are socially marginalized and often left to fend for ourselves. However, the social and emotional support we have in Kauvery is truly overwhelming. This is an organization that empowers, encourages, and supports the single women workforce. It takes a village to raise a child, and for us single mothers, Kauvery is our village”
~ Single mothers of Kauvery
“Women are trained and upskilled to take on senior leadership roles in the organization.”
~ Gowri
